One of the best beginner flow trails in NWA. Low-risk tabletops, smooth berms, forgiving speed. The kind of trail that makes you look better than you are — and that's a feature, not a bug. If you're warming up for the day or bringing a newer rider, this is your first lap.
Local take Don't skip this because it's a green. It's fun at any speed and a great way to dial in how the dirt feels before you push into harder terrain.
Same vibe as Wildfire — beginner-friendly flow with tabletops that are genuinely enjoyable rather than just easy. Good second lap after Wildfire to keep your momentum going before stepping up. Confidence-builder that doesn't feel like a training wheel.
Local take Wildfire then Finras is the standard warm-up combo. Do both before you head to anything harder.
This is where Slaughter Pen gets serious. The Rim Trail is a genuinely technical trail that you can ride at a comfortable blue pace — or push into single-black territory if you're sending it. Rocky, rooty in places, with exposure that asks you to pay attention. Not a trail to zone out on.
The dual nature is intentional design. Intermediate riders who are dialed in on blues will have a great time here. If you're still building confidence on technical terrain, ride it cautious first — understand the trail before you commit to the harder lines.
Local take This is the trail people remember from a Slaughter Pen day. Save it for after you've warmed up on Wildfire and Finras — you'll ride it better and enjoy it more.
Tight singletrack, serious flow, and on-site camping if you can get a spot. A step up from Slaughter Pen in terms of technical demand — and one of the best overnight mountain bike experiences in the region.
Coler is tighter and more technically demanding than Slaughter Pen. Where Slaughter Pen rewards speed and flow, Coler asks you to be precise — rooty sections, punchy climbs, and singletrack that keeps you working. When you're dialed in here, the flow is genuinely excellent.
It's not a trail system to show up at on your first day in Bentonville. Get a day at Slaughter Pen first, get a feel for NWA dirt, then come here when your legs and your head are ready. You'll get a lot more out of it.
Local take Coler is a day-two trail. Come here after Slaughter Pen has reminded your body what mountain biking feels like, and you'll have a much better time.
Sleeping at the trailhead is the most honest mountain bike trip experience you can have. Wake up, roll out of your tent, and you're already at Coler. It's fantastic — when it's open and when you can get a spot.
Two things to know going in: spots book up fast, so plan well ahead if this is part of your trip. And there are no pets allowed — no exceptions. If you're bringing a dog or didn't book in time, look at other Bella Vista camping options.
Local take If camping at Coler is available when you're planning your trip, book it immediately. Don't wait. It will be gone.
Comfortable intermediate riders who have spent time on technical singletrack will have a great time at Coler. If you're newer to trail riding or still building confidence on rooty, punchy terrain, this isn't the place to push your limits for the first time.
That's not a knock on Coler — it's just honest. The trail is better when you're ready for it. Come back after Slaughter Pen and you'll understand why people love this place.
